Thing is (and this is why I asked for help), once I have any of these open I have no idea what to do with them. Also I got a link to an online program called Aviary which was for something else but found that they had a nice looking beatmaker also (see the music creator button). I have Linux Multimedia Studio on my desktop which I heard was just as good as FL Studio with the added plus that it's free (open source). I've tinkered around with a few of these software stuff but still can't do s***. So with that in mind I'd like to learn how to do stuff with software only (for now). I'm serious about this but I just want to keep it recreational for now since I have no idea about this whole beat creating thing.
Will be more than willing to help once you explore these options! Very few producers have been able to make a good career off of software alone, so if/when you reach a serious point in your career, then it will be time to invest in some hardware. I like a combonation of 1 and 3 because most software has the ability to link the traditional hardware to the software. All the goodies you would find in a studio. Keyboards, MPC's, even some real instruments, 4 or 8 tracks, turntables. 3) Hardware- This is obviously the most pricy option. Set up somewhat the same as FL studio, and is free to mess around with and make some beats in a step sequencer.
You can simply do a google search and that will pop up. 2) Online programs- I have never seriously looked into this but I know that Rockstar Games (yes, the Grand Theft Auto guys) Made something for PSP, or at least attempted to and had an online version of it called Beaterator. The downside to this is that some of these programs, as well as the software addons can be a bit pricy.
I find it very easy to use and you can do just about anything with it. I prefer FL Studio, have been using it for like 6 years.
1) Software- Reason, Logic, FL Studio, GarageBand. Well theres a few things you can do depending on how seriously you wanna take it.
